About The Day

At home in two countries, the band of Dutch Laura and German Gregor is constantly crossing the border. Their music is intimate but still can be sharp-edged, dragging you into its own world. Like a movie. On stage The Day is a real 3-piece live band: drums, synth, guitar. The warm exciting guitar layers might be reminiscent of bands like Death Cab For Cutie and Explosions in the Sky. The moog synth of Laura calls The Xx to mind. These elements create a sound that takes you for a ride past the best of 90s/start-of-2000 alternative guitar bands to nowadays indie and dream pop. The cinematic feeling within their music is intensified on stage by the projection of short films that The Day produced themselves. LA-based blog Globalish describes their music as “intimacy nearer to us than our own skin” that has its origin in “tones of airy sensitivity, thumping heart-beats, twinkling synths and Laura’s delicate, inviting voice”.
