Synchromie Muziek presents "there is no place for me on this map," a program of piano music in collaboration with Dutch composer/pianist Dante Boon. Six works written in the last decade, four world premieres, and a 1962 masterwork from Elisabeth Lutyens make up this fascinating and personal program from Boon in his first collaboration with Synchromie.
Boon’s program traces a journey through radically different musical worlds, from the existential intensity of Zvezdina and Saunders to Lutyens’s uncompromising serialism and Papadimitriou’s algorithmic experiments. Yet beneath its intellectual range lies something deeply personal: a lullaby mourning pioneering algorithmic composer Clarence Barlow, Driessen’s musical farewell to a friend leaving the Netherlands, and Dennis Báthory-Kitsz’s intimate nocturne for pianist Beth Levin. Together, the works explore how music can confront existence, encode ideas, preserve memory, and say goodbye.
Program:
Darya Zvezdina - there is no place for me on this map (2019)
Miranda Driessen - Gone (to Katerina Konstantourou) (2017)
Dante Boon - Berceuse (2023) World Premiere
Dennis Báthory-Kitsz - Nocturne for Beth (2020) World Premiere
Lefteris Papadimitriou - Straight Line - Ίσον - (2025) World Premiere
Elisabeth Lutyens - Five Bagatelles (1962)
James Saunders - it is difficult to find the right way to proceed (2023) World Premiere
